★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Hailing from Stockholm, A Projection wear their post-punk influences very much on their collective sleeves. Opening track Exit echoes Joy Division's Insight crossed with The Chameleons' In Shreds, Camera continues with similar levels of angst and brutal rhythms, Another Face isn't musically far removed from early Modern English (circa Mesh and Lace) and This Is Not Me heads back to Joy Division territory (this time Colony) with The Sound chucked in for good measure.

If all of this sounds like your ideal sort of album then head to A Projection's fairly likeable new album on Tapete. Although very little of Exit pushes any boundaries, those who were recently charmed by Perverted By Language's Boxers album might seek solace with this. The bass-lines are ankle-deep, the drums rattle and roll with militaristic naunces (esp on the closing Faith) and lyrics are delivered in a hypnotic monotone. And at least 50% of the songs strike a Gothy chord, due mainly to the inclusion of some symphonic synths and sad-face guitar hooks.

In summary, Sweden's A Projection have created an album straight from their hearts with complete artistic freedom, without sounding too much like a tribute band for Ian Curtis.
